Life Drawing

It's been probably 7 years since I've done an actual life drawing session and I was extremely out of practice at the Dr. Sketchy session (the first 5 images). Dr. Sketchy was awesome, even if my drawings weren't, and I'm really looking forward to the next, but in the meantime, I found an awesome little group that meets every Saturday for life drawing. My second crack at life drawing came off a lot better, I think, as I found a much better posture to hold the drawing pad at (though I think I'm going to rig up some sort of portable drawing board for future sessions).

You nailed these pretty well for being so rusty. I go to the Vancouver Dr. Sketchy when I can and a great local session where I live. Our Dr. Sketchy is very crowded and popular and a big change to sit so tightly in my seat and try to work with my usual range of colored pencils that I like to use. It's so much easier to stand and really go at it than to keep it so contained when seated but it's worth it. Here's a link to my post about my last Dr. Sketchy session, with Little Red Riding Hood in sharp white stockings. http://paulaobrien.wordpress.com/2010/06/21/dr-sketchy-vancouver-little-red-riding-hood/
Thanks for your blog, I'll be back. Paula
