Ghostbusters round 2

Second set of Ghostbusters samples I sent to IDW back in January. Wasn't trying to nail the actors likenesses as I wasn't sure if they had the rights or not, and wanted to instead at least give an indication as to who's who without being too identical.

'Breakfast' - Illustration Friday

Been meaning to do something for Illustration Friday for a while.

Saturday Morning Drawing Class

Things went a bit smoother with these ones, tried using an old sketchbook back cover (pretty solid cardboard) as an easel of sorts.

Life Drawing

It's been probably 7 years since I've done an actual life drawing session and I was extremely out of practice at the Dr. Sketchy session (the first 5 images). Dr. Sketchy was awesome, even if my drawings weren't, and I'm really looking forward to the next, but in the meantime, I found an awesome little group that meets every Saturday for life drawing. My second crack at life drawing came off a lot better, I think, as I found a much better posture to hold the drawing pad at (though I think I'm going to rig up some sort of portable drawing board for future sessions).

Forest Diversion

Hit a roadblock while working on a couple websites and thought I'd do a quick sketch to work on the site designs subconsciously for a little bit. Full image is a little NSFW (a bit of bum and boob).

Beatnik

A quick Beatnik for a drawing jam at Drawingboard.org. I'd been wanting to try a 50s cartoon background that was sort of abstracted for a while and this seemed like a good one to try it on. As a first attempt I'm reasonably happy with how it came out.

Thanos and the Infinity Watch

I hadn't had a great deal of time to draw over the last week or so and I thought that knocking out this piece for a buddy might be a good chance to get things flowing again before I dove back into Gun Street Girl and BlueWater pages.

A lot of the background and terrain elements are really sloppy mainly as the effect I want to render it with is better achieved with the brush while inking so there's not much point investing a ton of time making the pencils really pretty.

Fairies in the house

A couple of fairies I drew for my wife. These were meant for printing at about 5"x7".

These were also my latest venture into digital coloring. I usually prefer a rough look, and like watercolors and ink washes but the challenge was set forth to go for a smooth look. There's bits I'm happy with and bits I'm not but I'm really looking forward to mucking around with the technique more.

And off we go...

Looks like the blog is finally up and running. Still some sprucing up to do, header, layout, the odd thing here and there, but at least we're off and running.

For the first thing out of the gate I've chosen a 3 page GI Joe sample I was working on. Click to enlarge, of course.
